December 2018 Trestleboard – One Goal

One Goal

This year, I feel a major goal of Wayfarers is having greater activity. While obviously bringing in new Masons is a major, major priority, I feel it is as important, if not more, to increase the activity of the men in the lodge.

Beginning in 2019, Tuesday night is Lodge Night. Whether we have something on the calendar or not, I want us to be able to get together as Brothers. We all hopefully joined this lodge because we like each other, and we should work on getting to know each other outside of our Stated Meetings. If we don’t have something officially planned, we will find something to do.

We’ll also try to incorporate the community. Our movie nights, scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of most months, and our first annual family picnic, scheduled for September, are great opportunities to invite friends and family who want to learn more about us.

I will make it a point to be at Wayfarers Lodge #50 each Tuesday night, unless there is something on our calendar at a different location, and I hope to see you there.

One Goal

The biggest thing I’d like to accomplish this year is to find ways to increase our membership. This involves bringing in new brothers, as well as in particular I’d like to focus on bringing brothers that haven’t attended in some time back in.

Our lodge can certainly said to be ‘out of the way’, and is quite a trip for many brothers. What I’d like to have as a goal is to create more reasons for the brothers to come to lodge or lodge events, participate, and involve friends and family; in short, build our community as well as the lodge.

Daily life these days can be incredibly busy and stressful, and what can happen all too often is that coming to lodge on a regular basis starts to feel like a chore.

‘One extra thing I have to take care of’ or ‘have to go do this too after work before I can actually go home and relax’.

I’d like to create ways to have lodge actually be that place where brothers go to relax, on a more frequent basis than just our stated meeting every month. I’d like to do this as more of regular, and more organic, gatherings as opposed to heavily planned events; planning and organizing is stressful and time consuming of its own right.

My goal is to create more open days where brothers can come to the lodge, relax, and take their mind off of all the everyday stresses, and enjoy fellowship with brothers, friends, and family. My hope is that as we will grow our lodge and our community side by side, as we continue to build our bonds as brothers and friends.
